Terms of Service

Our Terms of Service outline your rights and responsibilities as a 186Fiber customer.

By signing up for and using 186Fiber service, you agree to these Terms of Service, our Acceptable Use Policy, and any applicable service agreements.

Billing & Payments

  • Service is prepaid monthly. Your billing anniversary date is the day your service was installed.
  • No refunds or pro-rating for partial months of service.
  • A $3 late fee applies the day after your due date. Accounts become delinquent after a 5-day grace period, at which point service may be suspended.
  • Delinquent accounts continue to accrue charges until cancelled. We will attempt to contact you and may cancel service after several months of non-payment.
  • Payments are processed via autopay. You are responsible for keeping payment information current.

Seasonal Service

Seasonal service is available for customers who only need internet part of the year (e.g., vacation homes or snowbirds). To qualify for seasonal rates, you must maintain active regular (full-price) service for a minimum of 6 consecutive months before switching to seasonal status.

  • Seasonal rates are reduced, but service is suspended or slowed during your off-season months.
  • A reconnection fee may apply when resuming full service.
  • To request seasonal service, contact us at least 15 days in advance.

Router Options

We offer an optional router rental for an additional monthly fee (not included in base service pricing). Benefits of renting from 186Fiber include:

  • Remote diagnostics and faster support — our team can troubleshoot issues without a visit.
  • Automatic firmware updates for security and performance.
  • Guaranteed compatibility with our network.
  • Free replacement if the router fails (non-customer damage).
  • Professional setup during installation.

Customer-owned routers: You may use your own compatible router. Configuration, management, security, and troubleshooting are your responsibility. We can assist with basic connection but may charge for in-depth support related to customer equipment.

Cancellation Policy

To cancel service, email billing@186fiber.net. We will confirm receipt and process your request.

  • Upon cancellation, immediately disable autopay in your customer portal and cancel any recurring bank payments to prevent future charges. It is your responsibility to ensure the account is fully cancelled.
  • 186Fiber will schedule pickup of the ONU/ONT.

Equipment Responsibility

The ONU/ONT (optical network unit) and exterior enclosure are the property of 186Fiber. Upon cancellation of service, the ONU/ONT and any rented router must be returned in good condition within 30 days. Failure to return the equipment will result in a $250 replacement fee charged to your account.

Important: Do not open or tamper with the outdoor enclosure.

  • Before any digging or ground disturbance on your property: You are required to call Miss Dig (811) and notify 186Fiber in advance. This includes work by you or your contractors.
  • Notify us of any planned work (e.g., siding, painting, landscaping) that could affect the enclosure or fiber line. You are responsible for any damage caused by you, your contractors, or unreported work.
  • If you notice physical issues with the enclosure or fiber, contact us immediately.

Service calls are $90/hour if the issue is not our fault (e.g., customer equipment, local network problems, damage from unreported digging/work, or natural events beyond our control such as severe weather). You are responsible for repair/replacement costs if damage is caused by you or your contractors.

Speeds & Performance

Advertised speeds are "up to" maximums under ideal conditions. Actual speeds vary based on device capabilities, local network setup, Wi-Fi interference, or congestion. We cannot guarantee speeds on Wi-Fi devices or troubleshoot customer computer/network issues. Service calls for non-186Fiber faults are $90/hour.

This document may be updated at any time. Continued use of our service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
